After completing his move to Atlético Madrid, Memphis Depay spoke to the media about joining the club from Barcelona.
“I spoke to [Antoine] Griezmann before I came here and he told me a lot of good things about the club. It wasn’t a surprise when I came, it was everything I expected. I was welcomed and it was very nice. Everything is very comfortable, the stadium is wonderful and I would really like to play a game to experience the fans,” he said in quotes transcribed by Marca.

“I also played as a midfielder last season, in the national team and also previously at Lyon. I like to have a bit of freedom in the centre of the pitch to have the ball and create space for others. Only time will show what my experience will be like, but I need to adapt to what the coach wants and put my creativity aside to be as functional as possible.”
