A remarkable statistic, highlighting once more the extent of the brilliance of up-and-coming Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsí, has come to the fore online.
As much, of course, comes fresh off another frankly ridiculous performance on the part of a player of such tender years.
Cubarsí was afforded his latest starting berth on Wednesday night, in Barcelona’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg showdown with Paris Saint-Germain.
And, on a major European evening in a pressure cooker environment at the Parc des Princes, the 17-year-old, once more, looked utterly unphased.
Equally brilliant both in and out of possession, Cubarsí shone from his berth at the heart of the visitors’ defence, en route to an eventual 3-2 triumph.
Even the great Kylian Mbappé found himself thwarted when faced by La Masia’s latest gem, who is quickly making a name for himself as world football’s next great defensive talent.
And, as alluded to above, Cubarsí’s latest exploits on the continent have since given rise to a head-turning statistic.
As revealed by Squawka, despite having come up against the likes of the aforementioned Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia across his fledgling Champions League career to date, Barca’s prodigious stalwart is yet to be dribbled past on even a single occasion.
