Mateu Alemany’s plan before leaving FC Barcelona

Barcelona director of football, Mateu Alemany, who will leave the club on 30 June, will continue to work on adding to Barcelona’s squad for next season, report AS.

Barça have had the option to buy Atlético Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco since January for a fee of around €16m and according to AS, Alemany is convinced that he will eventually be able to reduce the figure to around €10m, although it has not been revealed whether he will include a player in the deal to achieve the drop in price.

Xavi wants Carrasco this summer, especially with the possible departures of Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres. Ez Abde is also set to return to Camp Nou once he has completed his one-year loan spell at Osasuna.

Carrasco and Abde would add depth out wide, on the left wing, with Ousmane Dembélé and Raphinha operating on the right wing.

Barcelona see the Belgian international as a good fit, with his experience in La Liga.

Alemany, on the other hand, has been linked with a move to Aston Villa, where he would work alongside head coach Unai Emery.
