Marcos Paulo set to leave Atlético Madrid

Marcos Paulo is close to joining São Paulo from Atlético Madrid, report Mundo Deportivo.

The Brazilian-Portuguese striker arrived to the Spanish capital with high hopes in 2021 from Fluminense, but he failed to fulfill expectations.

Marcos Paulo spent the first half of this season on loan at CD Mirandés in the Segunda División, where he managed to score two goals and provide two assists in 14 games.

São Paulo have been trying to sign Marcos Paulo for a while and a deal is expected to be made official in the next couple of days.

According to the agreement, the 21-year-old will join São Paulo on loan for a year, with the Brazilian outfit having the option of purchasing the player permanently for a fixed fee after the expiration of the deal.

Born in Brazil, Marcos Paulo chose to represent Portugal internationally. He has played four games and scored one goal for the U19 Portuguese national team.
