Marc-André ter Stegen on taking a salary cut: “I don’t think it’s the right time to talk about that now.”

Marc-André ter Stegen played in Germany’s Nations League games against Hungary and England.

In an interview with El Larguero that appeared on Marca, he was asked about whether Barcelona requested him to reduce his salary:

“If they asked me to reduce my salary at Barça? Well, I don’t think it’s the right time to talk about that now. We’re going to need everyone to be in the best condition to be able to face what’s left until the World Cup.”

He believes that Robert Lewandowski made a positive difference to the team:

“When you have a striker as a reference point, it changes a lot for me as well. We expected a lot from him and he has started better than everyone expected.”

Ter Stegen also thinks that his summer break was key to his current good form:

“The summer was very good for me, I was able to relax and isolate myself from everything that was going on. I needed it. So I was able to start well and I think that I’m in good condition. We have started well at Barça and I just hope that no one else gets injured.”
