Marc-André ter Stegen injury update: when will he return to action with Barcelona?

As reported by Relevo, Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is aiming to return to the side for the Champions League game against Napoli. The netminder is two weeks ahead of schedule and could play as early as the last week of January or early February.

Ter Stegen’s recovery is going well and therefore he is set to be available for selection earlier than expected. The German decided a month ago to undergo surgery.

Initially, it was thought that the 31-year-old would be out for around two months, however, this deadline has now been cut due to the fast recovery of the player. Barca’s vice-captain left the Germany training camp on November 17 and since then he hasn’t featured for club or country.

The keeper has missed nine matches for the Spanish giants and two for his national team. He is said to be in high spirits and is very satisfied with his treatment and recovery. He always had the Champions League knockouts in his mind and wanted to come back from injury as soon as possible.

The first match will be played at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium in Naples on February 21 and Barcelona’s number one is expected to be available for the match against the Italians.

His return could take place in La Liga against Deportivo Alavés or Granada.
