Manchester United have signed 17-year-old left-back Álvaro Fernández Carreras from Real Madrid on a free transfer, according to ESPN.

The defender, who was part of Real’s youth academy, has signed a four-year deal at Old Trafford after his contract expired on June 30.

It hasn’t been an easy decision and I only have words of thanks. I’ve taken the decision to leave this great club… The time has come to say goodbye and take another path in my footballing career,” he wrote on his personal Instagram account.
