Man United star Mason Greenwood sends farewell message to Getafe

Manchester United star Mason Greenwood on Sunday moved to send a message of appreciation to La Liga outfit Getafe.

As much, of course, comes after the wide-man spent this past season on loan with the Azulones.

After being deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford amid heavy fan backlash over his court case last summer, Greenwood went on to link up with José Bordalás’ troops for the 2023/24 campaign.

And, safe to say, the move proved to be a productive one for both parties.

Greenwood enjoyed an impressive stint in Spain, rediscovering some of his best form en route to 10 goals and six assists across 36 appearances in all competitions.

Such production always made it unlikely that Getafe would be able to keep hold of the Englishman beyond the summer, amid alleged interest in his services throughout the continent.

In a post released late on Sunday night, Greenwood, in turn, forwarded a heartfelt farewell message to all at the Estadio Coliseum.

As cited by Fabrizio Romano, the 22-year-old wrote:

“Incredibly grateful to the Getafe family and fans for an amazing season. It was a pleasure to play for you, I wish you all the best.”
