Madrid elections could see Marcelo miss Chelsea-Real Madrid clash

Real Madrid full-back Marcelo has been called to sit at an electorate table as Madrid residents go to the polls in regional elections next week.

The Brazilian player became a Spanish citizen in 2011 and is therefore legally bound to attend the polling station on the same day that Real Madrid fly to London ahead of their Champions League semi-final second leg.

According to Marca, Madrid have launched an appeal to excuse Marcelo from the commitment, but they have not yet received official authorisation.

Marcelo could alternatively travel alone on May 5, with his Real Madrid teammates already in London.
