Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique has this evening dropped something of a hint regarding his plans for next season.
The name of tactician Enrique has of course returned to the forefront of the headlines in his home country of Spain across the week to date.
This comes amid reports that the powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona are giving consideration to approaching their former manager regarding the prospect of a summer reunion.
The Blaugrana are of course on the lookout for a new headmaster, ahead of the planned departure of Xavi Hernández upon the season’s close.
Amid mounting frustration when it comes to their first-choice targets, though, Joan Laporta and co. have been forced to broaden their search.
And as much is understood to have seen the name of Enrique pushed as a potential candidate by several key figures in the Camp Nou boardroom.
If the latest comments on the part of the 53-year-old himself are anything to go by, however, then a return to Catalunya, for the time being at least, appears to be out of the question.
Speaking in a press conference on Thursday, the former Spanish national team boss was once more drawn on the impending departure of PSG talisman Kylian Mbappé.
And, in his response, Enrique all but confirmed his intention to stay put in Paris for the 2024/25 campaign:
“It doesn’t occur to me that the team will be weaker next season,” he began, as cited by Mundo Deportivo. “I’m very sure. If everything goes well, I think and I’m convinced that we will have a better team next year.”
