Luis de la Fuente reveals Lamine Yamal plans for Spain vs Croatia

Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has provided an insight into his plans for star attacker Lamine Yamal in his side’s next outing.

Wide-man Lamine is of course in the midst of a spectacular stretch of form on the international front. Afforded starts in all three of Spain’s Nations League fixtures across the break to date, the 19-year-old has responded with five direct goal contributions.

Last time out against Czechia, Lamine was hooked from proceedings with 45 minutes on the clock, a welcome sight back in Barcelona.

Speaking to the media on the eve of the world champions’ next outing against Croatia on Tuesday, the aforementioned Luis de la Fuente was therefore asked if his attacking prodigy is likely to be afforded further rest.

And Spain’s headmaster, as per Cadena SER, was open in his response:

“We’ve always fielded the best team for the match we have to play. From the beginning, I mentioned how tough it would be to play so many matches in such a short period. And tomorrow we face a team that’s in perfect condition. Nobody will play more than 270 minutes, which would be playing three out of four matches. Lamine has played two out of three. And most of the players will play three out of four. We’re always trying to find the right balance for matches that are very demanding. Tomorrow is a very important match for us because of the qualification and because of an opponent like Croatia.”
