Real Madrid face Shakhtar Donetsk this evening in the fourth round of the Champions League group stages.
In Real Madrid’s pre-match press conference that appeared on Marca, Lucas Vázquez discussed the importance of the fixture:
“It will be faced as a final. It is important as with a win we are on track to qualify for the next round. It is difficult to achieve, but we are doing well and we are happy with how the season is going.”
The Spaniard also argued that you cannot win the Champions League solely by luck:
“These are things we are hearing very often now. It’s complicated because we believe that you don’t win a Champions League by luck or chance. Each one is more difficult than the last and to have won it so many is a source of pride.”
“The truth is that we don’t care much about what people outside the club think. We don’t mind what they say, it’s just another motivation. Last year we were not favorites and we won it. We have to try to win it and that’s what we do every year,” he added.
