The board at Premier League giants Liverpool have earmarked another member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona as a potential market opportunity.
The latest Blaugrana star in the sights of the Reds? Alejandro Balde.
Left-back Balde is for his part of course in the midst of what has been an altogether challenging opening to the season to date. After being heavily linked with a departure from the Camp Nou over the summer, the 22-year-old has not been afforded a single minute of playing time across Barca’s first six fixtures.
Sitting behind not only summer signing João Cancelo, but also breakout talent Xavi Espart in the left-back pecking order in Catalunya’s capital, Balde is facing up to something of a crossroads in his career.
And as alluded to above, keeping a close eye on the situation of the Spaniard with a view to the January window are none other than Liverpool.
As per a report from Diario Sport, after snapping up Ronald Araújo on a season-long loan over the summer:
‘In the last few hours, Balde has been linked to Liverpool. The Spanish coach of the ‘Reds’, Andoni Iraola, would consider his incorporation interesting.’
