Speaking to ESPN Argentina, Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martínez admitted he came close to joining FC Barcelona from the Serie A champions.
“I was close to joining Barcelona but they had financial problems. The decision was then to stay at Inter and now I have this title [Scudetto].”
On turning down Real Madrid
“[Santiago] Solari was at Real Madrid Castilla and he came looking for me. I had barely arrived at Racing and I didn’t feel like I was ready to move far away. The second time when I wasn’t playing so much at Racing they came looking for me and offered me a contract, but I didn’t feel ready.”
Barcelona interested in Agüero
Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Sergio Agüero from Manchester City. Sky Sports report that the LaLiga club have held initial talks with representatives of Agüero over a free transfer this summer, adding to speculation that Lionel Messi will stay at Camp Nou.
