Las Palmas dealt injury blow ahead of Barcelona clash

La Liga outfit Las Palmas have this weekend been dealt a concerning blow on the personnel front.

This comes amid confirmation that key defender Julián Araujo has picked up an injury problem.

Right-back Araujo, for his part, departed Gran Canaria earlier this week, to link up with his fellow countrymen with the Mexican national team.

In turn, the 22-year-old was afforded a starting berth on Friday night, in El Tri’s CONCACAF Nations League semi-final meeting with Panama.

En route to an eventual 3-0 triumph for his side, however, Araujo was forced into a premature departure from proceedings, early in the 2nd-half.

Whilst limping from the field of play at AT&T Stadium, the stopper was spotted clutching his hamstring, an altogether concerning development for the coaching staff at the aforementioned Las Palmas.

Araujo, for his part, has played a starring role for Los Amarillos across the season to date, on his way to 22 La Liga appearances.

In the case of the Mexican’s hamstring injury being confirmed, however, he is likely facing up to a spell on the sidelines.

García Pimienta’s troops are primed to return to action on the back of the international break on March 30th, making the daunting trip to Catalunya to take on Barcelona.

Araujo, though, would actually have been ineligible for the clash either way, owing to the fact that he is currently on loan at Las Palmas, from the Blaugrana.
