Lamine Yamal looked heartbroken as Harry Kane collected Ballon d’Or trophy

Barcelona star Lamine Yamal was left looking nothing short of inconsolable after missing out on the Ballon d’Or award for the latest time on Monday night.

Wide-man Lamine was of course considered to be amongst the very frontrunners to be named world football’s best player for the last 12 months.

Alongside Bayern Munich frontman Harry Kane and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé, the 19-year-old was viewed as one of only three players in with a realistic shot at the ‘Golden Ball’ for 2026.

In the end, however, the coveted accolade went the way of Harry Kane.

The Englishman looked in a state of shock as he made his way to the stage to accept his trophy, whilst those in the crowd watched on with mixed emotions.

One player who struggled to hide his disappointment at the eventual outcome, though, was the aforementioned Lamine. Sitting amongst his peers at the London Palladium Theatre, the World Cup winner was spotted looking crestfallen as Kane issued a heartfelt speech from the podium:
