La Liga giants Barcelona expressed a keen interest in the signing of Nicolò Tresoldi from Club Brugge in the final days of this past summer’s transfer window.
In the end, however, the Blaugrana were scared off by the attacker’s price tag.
Barcelona of course spent much of the summer window working on reinforcing the frontline in Hansi Flick’s squad, following the respective departures of both Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.
Julián Alvarez was the Blaugrana’s chief target, as publicly confirmed by Joan Laporta on more than one occasion.
In the end, however, Barca’s search for a new goalscorer came up empty, with Raphinha having since been converted into a central striker as a result.
But as alluded to above, during the final days of the transfer window, another option was also circled in red by those in a position of power at the Spotify Camp Nou. As per a report from transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg:
‘Barcelona showed concrete interest in Nicolò Tresoldi in the days leading up to the last deadline day, but were not willing to meet Club Brugge’s valuation of around €50m.’
German youth international Tresoldi has for his part since gone on to rack up 16 goals in the colours of Club Brugge this season.
