La Liga clubs interested in Croatia international Josip Juranović

Celtic and Croatia right-back Josip Juranović is attracting interest from Spain, according to various Spanish outlets, including Estadio Deportivo.

Juranović reached the semi-finals of the World Cup with Croatia and after some impressive performances in Qatar, now has several La Liga clubs following him closely. The right-back has been linked with Atlético Madrid and Barcelona.

At 27 years of age, Juranović is in his prime. Both Atlético Madrid and Barcelona could still improve in the right-back area.

Neither Héctor Bellerín nor Sergi Roberto have the full backing of head coach Xavi Hernández, who often prefers to use centre-backs Jules Koundé and Ronald Araújo in that position. It has, however, been reported that for Barça to make a move they must first discover if La Liga allows them to enter the fray.

The move is not a priority for either of the two Spanish clubs. Barcelona are targeting other players such as Juan Foyth for the position, while Atlético, in addition to Argentina international Nahuel Molina, could also have Marcos Llorente playing there.

Juranović has a deal at Celtic until 2026. The Scottish side bought him in the summer of 2021 for €3m from Legia Warsaw.
