Radja Nainggolan critical of Sevilla sporting director Monchi

One of the players most critical of Monchi’s time at AS Roma as the Serie A club’s sporting director has been Radja Nainggolan.

The Belgian midfielder currently plies his trade at Royal Antwerp and in an interview with Tradizione Romanista later transcribed by Mundo Deportivo, he has once again hit out at current Sevilla sporting director Monchi.

Nainggolan, without naming Monchi, took advantage of a question about Walter Sabatini, sporting director at Roma before the arrival of the Sevilla man. “We spoke again recently. He was one of the best sporting directors I’ve ever had, he understands football. Then came the other one (Monchi) who ruined the team. He sold all the players. I can’t even name him. If I had known he was going to leave soon after, I would have stayed,” the Belgian said.

The accusations come after he had previously had a go Monchi. In April 2019, he said: “I’ve known the things he said about me and I didn’t like them… Three days after he left Roma, the team he said he was in love with, he had already agreed to return to Sevilla. With this, for me, he has already proved a lot of things.”
