La Liga and Spanish government to hold talks over return of fans to stadiums

Speaking in a press conference with international media, La Liga president Javier Tebas discussed the possibility of fans returning to stadiums in Spain’s top two divisions this season.

The pandemic is suffering a heavy fall. The government has set down rules of how fans can return to stadiums. The minister for sport, with the regional authorities, and La Liga have to coordinate this return to stadiums. When 10 to 15 days have gone by, we’ll sit down with the government to try to bring fans back to stadiums.

Obviously it won’t be the whole stadium and it would be with very high precautionary measures, like the protocols we have. I think we could have 10 or 15 percent in some stadiums. We’d be delighted with that.”

Football returned to Spain on Wednesday, with Rayo Vallecano defeating Albacete 1-0 in the second division.
