Koke: “My idea is to retire at Atlético but we’ll see what happens when my contract is up.”

Atlético Madrid captain Koke admitted on Friday that his idea is to finish his career with Atlético.

Koke has played an incredible 553 games for the club, recently equalling Adelardo Rodriguez, who he will surpass on Saturday in the match against Sevilla.

“These are situations and moments of hard work and sacrifice and it’s a source of pride to be able to reach that number and hopefully much more,” said Koke in an interview with DAZN.

Wants to finish his career at Atlético

“My idea has always been to retire here but we’ll see what happens when my contract is up. I have two years left, this one and one more, and my idea is to stay here. I don’t know what will happen,” he added.

On Diego Simeone

“I asked him what he wanted from me and he told me that I was going to be a very important player at the club, that I had to be patient. I believed in him, he believed in me and then you have to respond on the pitch, not just in words.”
