Karim Benzema: “This club is my whole life.”

After scoring a brace in Real Madrid’s 6-1 thrashing of Mallorca on Wednesday, Karim Benzema reached his 200th league goal for the club.

Madrid president Florentino Peréz presented the Frenchman with a commemorative shirt after the game.

“This club is my whole life,” Benzema told Real Madrid TV. “Hopefully I can score many more.”

Asked what La Liga goal has been the most special for him, the striker said: “I would still say the first, a pass from [Ruud] Van Nistelrooy at the [Santiago] Bernabéu.”

With a total of 287 goals, Benzema is Madrid’s fifth leading goalscorer of all time, behind Cristiano Ronaldo (450 goals), Raúl (323), Alfredo Di Stéfano (308), and Santillana (290).

Benzema is in the form of his life and has scored eight league goals in six league games so far this season – the same number as FC Barcelona.
