The recent developments regarding Julián Álvarez’s impending move to Atlético Madrid means that the club are now open to selling Samu Omorodion to Chelsea.
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, the London club are pursuing a deal for the forward for a fee in the region of €40m. After progress was made in Atlético’s move for Álvarez, the club have softened their stance on Omorodion and are now more open to letting him leave the club.
Chelsea have already seen a €32.5m plus add-ons bid for the Spaniard rejected. The forward spent last season on loan at Deportivo Alavés, scoring nine goals and grabbing one assist.
The 20-year-old has been identified by the Premier League side as their first choice option for the forward line. The two clubs are in direct contact and are on good terms after an agreement was found for Conor Gallagher’s transfer.
However, the clubs are treating this as a completely separation operation. If talks continue to accelerate, then Blues boss Enzo Maresca will have his dream target signed before the start of the new Premier League season.
Atlético have total power in these negotiations and they are trying to sign Álvarez from Manchester City before letting Omorodion depart the Spanish capital.
