Sevilla head coach Julen Lopetegui revealed his delight in signing a new deal with the LaLiga club, adding that his side face a tricky test midweek against Atlético Madrid.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s clash against Atlético at the Wanda Metropolitano, the Basque coach admitted signing until 2024 is something he is very proud of.
“The extension gives me a feeling of satisfaction and pride. That the club have decided that we will continue working together, building on the growth of the club and implementing ambitious goals, is something that fills me with responsibility and pride. That said, we continue to look forward and to the next game. We have a very interesting one tomorrow. We play against the outstanding league leaders and against one of the best squads in the world. I already said it last year, and they are led by one of the best coaches in the world. All that makes it very difficult tomorrow, but we are going with the healthy intention of competing with them and being able to beat them.”
