Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has on Thursday admitted to being less than impressed with the recent behaviour of Raúl Asencio away from the pitch.
The name of defender Asencio of course emerged as an altogether prominent one in the Spanish media headlines earlier this week. This came upon word coming to the fore that the defender had been charged with driving whilst almost four times over the legal alcohol limit.
The incident, which took place in Gran Canaria last month, culminated in Asencio being taken to court, banned from driving and hit with a fine of €14,400.
Speaking during an appearance in front of the media earlier today, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his defensive star’s recent transgressions was put to the aforementioned José Mourinho.
And Real Madrid’s headmaster did not at all hold back in his response, sending a public message to Asencio to clean up his act:
“I am not happy with Raúl Asencio. He is a great professional, no one trains like him. But a Real Madrid player is always a Real Madrid player. Even off the pitch. What you do outside hurts the image of the club. What I’m saying is I am not happy.”
