Jorge Sampaoli: “The team could not play.”

Last night Sevilla suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Barcelona in the 20th round of La Liga.

In his post-match interview, which appeared on Marca, Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli argued that Los Nervionenses lost the game in the second-half:

“We endured the first-half, the opposition did not have many chances and in the second-half we did not find a solution and what ended up happening happened. We were not in control at any time, the team could not play.”

Despite finding themselves just two points above the relegation zone, the Argentine coach believes that the arrival of Bryan Gil can help revitalise the team’s attack:

“The qualitative advantage he can give you on the wing, in the one-on-one, we hope that although he did not start, the team will show another face in the future.”

Sevilla will host Mallorca next Saturday at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.
