Yesterday Valencia suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Girona in the 20th round of La Liga.
Despite their poor form, Valencia captain José Luis Gayà expressed in his post-match interview, which appeared on Marca, the need to use this week to improve:
“We are in a situation in which nothing is going our way, we are facing a mental blockage. Now we have a clean week in which we can work better, disconnect, to prepare for the match. We are not going to give up, this team is going to prove that we can lift ourselves out of this. There are many days left to turn it around.”
Gayà believes that everyone at the club needs to come together to improve results:
“We want to isolate ourselves from the noise outside. It’s not an easy situation. Inside, we shouldn’t divide ourselves and stay together. What is in our hands, which is to play for this badge, we are going to do it.”
Valencia play Athletic Club next weekend.
