Sevilla have only five points from a possible 21 so far this season and manager Julen Lopetegui’s days are numbered, according to Cadena SER.
The report says that once the Andalusian club find a new coach, the sacking of Julen Lopetegui will be announced. Jorge Sampaoli is the favourite to replace the Basque coach at the time of writing. The Argentine managed Sevilla from June 2016 to June 2017.
Sevilla currently sit in 17th place, with their latest defeat coming against Atlético Madrid in La Liga on Saturday night. Lopetegui, who took Sevilla training on Sunday morning, has seen his side lose four of their seven league games so far this season.
The former Real Madrid manager remains in charge of the club, however, there is a strong possibility that he will not be on the bench at the Sánchez Pizjuán next weekend against Athletic Club.
Sevilla’s next game is against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday 5 October.
