Carlo Ancelotti: “Benzema is the best penalty taker we have.”

For the first time this season, Carlo Ancelotti faced the media to talk about something other than a Real Madrid victory.

“There are no excuses. The game didn’t go the way we wanted it to but we still could have won with the penalty. The team has done very well so far. These are things that happen in La Liga. There are things to improve. We’ve come from a very good run and now we’re going to look for another one. This team is never happy when it doesn’t win. A draw makes us sad, but we’re going to react soon,” he said in quotes transcribed by Marca.

The Italian coach explained that he remembered last season’s penalties in Pamplona: “I thought about changing the penalty taker, but Karim took the two most important penalties last season. He is the best penalty taker we have.”

Ancelotti went on to explain why Mariano came on for Los Blancos and not Eden Hazard: “The end of the game wasn’t for Hazard, that’s why we turned to Mariano.”

“Tomorrow (today) he will undergo tests. We will wait to see what the result says. It’s not very serious, but we will evaluate it,” Ancelotti explained about the injury to Real Madrid’s Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
