Joaquín becomes oldest goalscorer in UEFA Europa League history

At 41 years and 56 days, Joaquín has become the oldest goalscorer in UEFA Europa League history.

The Spanish winger scored a wondergoal in tonight’s match between Real Betis and Bulgarian outfit Ludogorets at the Estadio Benito Villamarín in Seville.

In the 40th minute of the European encounter, Joaquín picked up the ball before curling a sublime shot from outside the box into the top corner to double the lead for Betis.

In what is likely to be his last year in football, the magician from Cádiz continues to produce magic moments.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side won the game 3-2 to make it two wins from two in their 2022-23 European adventure.

Thursday’s home win takes Betis top of the group with six points. Pellegrini’s side have won six of their seven games this season.

UEFA congratulated Joaquín on social media for his goal and new record. “A Legend” the official Europa League account wrote.
