João Félix hits back at criticism over response to Xavi’s Barcelona sacking

Barcelona star João Félix has this evening moved to defend himself, after being targeted in the media for his actions in the aftermath of manager Xavi’s dismissal.

The subject of Xavi’s exit has of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the day to date.

Just weeks on from his continuation for the 2024/25 campaign being confirmed, the Spaniard was today informed that his services will no longer be required beyond this weekend’s season finale against Sevilla.

A number of Barcelona stars have since taken to social media to react to the news of their manager’s sacking, sending Xavi messages of gratitude and well-wishes.

Others have opted to keep quiet for the time being, having no doubt spoken to the 44-year-old in person at the club’s training ground on Friday.

And yet, one member of Barca’s squad to have been criticised for his latest social media activity comes in the form of the aforementioned João Félix.

In a post on his Instagram account this evening, frontman Félix unveiled a photo from training, in which he appears to be celebrating a team victory.

This was responded to by El Chiringuito TV, who called into question the motives behind the post.

Félix, however, was not ready to accept such a jibe lying down, quickly taking to the comments section to issue a stern response:

‘You look for controversies where they don’t exist!’
