“How badly does Barcelona treat their legends” – Quique Sánchez Flores on Xavi’s sacking

Quique Sánchez Flores spoke to the media on Friday afternoon ahead of Sevilla’s match at home against Barcelona, in what will be his last as Sevilla manager.

This press conference came only hours after Barcelona announced that Xavi will not be manager at the Catalan club next season.

As per Diario de Sevilla, when asked about the circumstances surrounding Xavi’s dismissal, Quique said: “I shouldn’t say it, but how badly Barcelona treats their legends, how badly, what a bad streak. With Koeman, with Messi, with Xavi now. How bad.”

Some may see the manager’s words as a sly dig at his own employers, following their dramatic U-turn with regard to the future of club captain Jesús Navas.

The manager also spoke about how he will bid farewell to his counterpart at Barcelona: “I’ll give him a huge hug. We’ve always had a great relationship and we’ve got on fantastically well.”

Many rumours are circulating concerning who will replace Xavi at the Catalan giants, but on Sunday, all eyes will be on Xavi, as he bids farewell to his boyhood club.
