João Félix forced to undergo surgery on ankle

Atlético Madrid playmaker João Félix will undergo surgery in the next few days, according to AS.

After Portugual were eliminated by Belgium at Euro 2020, he decided to undergo surgery on his right ankle, which has caused him problems since November.

The Portuguese player barely featured in the European Championship because of the niggling ankle problem. He previously underwent conservative treatment but has finally decided to undergo surgery.

João Felix will be operated on by Cornelis Nicolaas Van Dijk, the world’s leading ankle specialist. He almost had surgery before Euro 2020, but in the end, decided to go to boost Portugal’s chances.

The report suggests that he could be out of action for up to two months.
