Joan Laporta: Barcelona have no intention of selling Frenkie de Jong

Barcelona president Joan Laporta confirmed that selling Frenkie de Jong this summer is not in the club’s plans.

Laporta also mentioned that there are many clubs that are interested in signing the Dutchman, and not just Manchester United. He went on to confirm the player’s desire to stay put in Spain.

“There are many clubs that want him, not just Man United. We have no intention of selling him, he wants to stay.”

That said, Laporta revealed that if De Jong stays, a pay cut will be negotiated.

As per Catalunya Radio, De Jong’s wages are set to increase next season, making him the team’s highest earner.

“I’m going to do everything to keep Frenkie, but there’s also a salary issue and that would have to be adjusted.”

Manchester United have been in talks with Barcelona for De Jong for weeks. An agreement between the two clubs has yet to be reached.
