Jan Oblak: “The result speaks for itself and you have to accept it.”

Atlético Madrid lost 2-1 at home against Real Madrid in the sixth round of La Liga.

In a post-match interview that appeared on Marca, Jan Oblak discussed his thoughts regarding the game:

“We leave with the feeling that we could have done something more. It was a complicated game, but I think we could have got a point, we’re sad about that. But it doesn’t matter what you deserve or not, the result speaks for itself and you have to accept it.”

The Slovenian keeper believes that the team needs to continue pushing to climb up the table:

“We’re not where we wanted to be, we’re quite a few points behind first and second. However, we have to think about the next game, but La Liga is long and there’s a long way to go. Today was a difficult game, I’m sad about the defeat, but we have to pick ourselves up.”

Despite the poor results, Oblak doesn’t question the leadership of Diego Simeone:

“You can’t question Cholo. The season started and things didn’t work out the same way as they did pre-season. The game plan changed, but in the dressing room there is enough self-criticism and demand. I’m the first to demand that we win everything.”
