Isco sets all-time Champions League record in Real Betis vs Lille

Real Betis star Isco has on Tuesday evening secured for himself a piece of European football history. This comes owing to his appearance for the Verdiblancos on the continent.

Manuel Pellegrini’s Betis are fresh off kicking their campaign back in the Champions League into gear, in a League Phase meeting with French outfit Lille.

Fresh off an impressive victory over Real Madrid in La Liga at the weekend, Pellegrini and his staff stuck with the bulk of the same starting XI for their trip to The Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

This meant the aforementioned Isco maintaining his place in midfield.

And as alluded to above, owing to as much, the 34-year-old has etched his name ever further into the history books of European club football.

As revealed by statistician MisterChip:

‘Isco becomes the FIRST player to play in the Champions League with FIVE different clubs from the same country.’

The clubs in question? Valencia, Málaga, Real Madrid, Sevilla, and now, Real Betis.
