Barcelona and Argentina icon Lionel Messi has early this week reached an agreement in principle to take over full ownership of a Spanish club.
The outfit in question? CD Eldense.
As per a report from Spanish outlet Marca on Tuesday:
‘Lionel Messi has reached an agreement in principle to acquire Eldense. Messi would acquire 100% of the shares, without the involvement of any third parties.’
Eldense are currently plying their trade in the Segunda Division, the 2nd tier of the Spanish football pyramid.
In the case of Messi’s purchase being made official over the weeks ahead, it would mark his 2nd dip into the Spanish football market across the year to date.
The Argentine first delved into the club ownership scene back in April, upon 5th-tier UE Cornellà announcing that he had taken over 100% rights of the Catalan side.
