Iñigo Martínez at Barcelona training ground ahead of completing move to league champions

Iñigo Martínez is set to officially complete his move to FC Barcelona and images have emerged of him at the club’s training ground. The move will be confirmed by the club shortly, per Carlos Monfort.

Originally reported by Marca, the defender has been in talks with Barça for the majority of 2023 after a move failed to transpire last summer. But for the second time of asking, he now leaves Athletic Club via a free transfer after six seasons with the club.

In the previous La Liga campaign the Spain international only racked up 15 appearances due to a number of niggling injuries. The 32-year-old will now begin a new life at the league champions and it is believed that he will sign a two-year deal.

Martínez will add 13 campaigns of La Liga experience to help coordinate Xavi’s backline. He joins a defence that currently includes Ronald Araújo, Andreas Christensen, Jules Koundé, Marcos Alonso, Alejandro Balde and Eric García.
