Iñaki Williams receives Ghana call-up

Iñaki Williams has been called up to Ghana’s national team for the first time, report Mundo Deportivo.

Even though he made one appearance in a friendly for Spain against Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2016, he announced his intention to play for the country of his parents following FIFA’s acceptance of Ghana’s request to let him change his allegiance.

Ghana will play Brazil and Nicaragua on the 23rd and 27th of September respectively and will use the fixtures as warm-up matches for the World Cup that is set to kick off later this year in Qatar.

The Black Stars are hoping to cause an upset and progress to the last 16 from Group H, where they are placed together with Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.

Ghana are also keen on convincing Iñaki Williams’ brother Nico Williams to switch allegiances as well, who is currently a member of Spain’s U21 team.
