İlkay Gündoğan sends public message of appreciation to Barcelona teammate Lamine Yamal

The latest social media activity on the part of Barcelona star İlkay Gündoğan has piqued widespread attentions this weekend.

This comes after the midfielder sent a message of gratitude to young teammate Lamine Yamal.

The name of attacker Lamine has of course taken its place front and centre in the Spanish media headlines across the weekend to date.

As much comes after the Spanish international conjured up a moment of individual magic, to guide Barcelona to a narrow La Liga victory over Mallorca.

And, in the process, Lamine spared the blushes of a veteran member of boss Xavi’s squad.

Prior to Barca’s only goal of the game on Friday, the Blaugrana were afforded a clear-cut chance to put themselves in front.

This came in the form of a first-half penalty, taken responsibility of by the aforementioned İlkay Gündoğan.

The German international, however, fluffed his lines from 12 yards, his effort at goal having lacked any real form of conviction.

Post-match, Gündoğan was therefore quick to reveal his appreciation for the eventual match-winner at Montjuïc.

Taking to his official ‘X’ account, the former Manchester City man unveiled a message of thanks to the Barcelona faithful, also featuring an ‘I owe you’ to Lamine:
