How Bayern Munich could hand Barcelona a financial boost

La Liga giants Barcelona could soon be handed a welcome financial boost, courtesy of German champions Bayern Munich.

This comes amid the understanding that the latter are pushing to bring former Blaugrana defender Sergiño Dest in from PSV Eindhoven.

Right-back Dest is for his part fresh off a fine individual campaign in the Netherlands, culminating in an Eredivisie title.

All told, across 38 appearances in all competitions, the American international racked up two goals and an impressive eight assists.

Such exploits did not go unnoticed amongst those behind the scenes at the aforementioned Bayern Munich, who, amid an ongoing search for full-back reinforcements, have earmarked Dest as a leading target.

And according to Mundo Deportivo, in the case of such a transfer coming to fruition, also in line to benefit will be Barcelona, whom the 25-year-old joined from Ajax back in 2020:

‘FC Barcelona are waiting to see what happens because when they sold Dest to PSV, they retained a percentage of any future sale, which, according to some sources, would be around 20 percent.’

Rumours suggest that the Catalans could in turn be in line for a cut of €3.5m – €5 million.
