Hansi Flick takes another step towards Barcelona manager’s post

A fresh insight into the efforts of German tactician Hansi Flick to land the manager’s job at La Liga giants Barcelona has been provided this afternoon.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, who point towards the former Bayern Munich boss as doing his utmost to position himself as a leading candidate to replace the outbound Xavi Hernández in Catalunya’s capital.

Earlier this month, it was of course revealed in the media that Flick was learning to speak Spanish, hopeful of impressing the powers that be at Barcelona, in the case of talks being opened between the parties.

And, this week, he has gone a step further.

The 58-year-old, it is understood, has begun scouting assistant managers, who speak both German and Spanish.

As much comes, according to Sport, ‘so that they can act as a bridge in the event of (Flick) being chosen for the Barcelona bench’.

A pair of leading candidates have already emerged, too, in the form of Oscar Corrochano, and Christian Fiél.

The former has previously taken up head coaching roles at both club and international level, and boasts direct experience working alongside Flick.

Fiél, on the other hand, would mark a more ambitious target, with the former midfielder currently holding the role of headmaster at German 2nd tier outfit Nürnberg.

Either way, one things appears clear – that Hansi Flick has set his sights firmly on the manager’s post at Barcelona.
