Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has this week moved to reveal his appreciation for the efforts of two of the club’s up-and-coming young talents.
This comes owing to their respective efforts in the Blaugrana’s latest outing.
Barca were of course back in action on Wednesday night, making the trip to Vitoria-Gasteiz for a La Liga meeting with Deportivo Alavés.
With his side’s 2nd successive Spanish top-flight title already in the bag, Hansi Flick opted to shake up his team selection for the fixture.
Young central defender Álvaro Cortés, for one, was afforded his first-ever senior starting berth. Fellow stopper Xavi Espart was then introduced off the bench during the 2nd-half at Mendizorrotza.
And despite his side’s eventual defeat, Barca’s headmaster was keen to highlight the performances of both starlets post-match.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of the full-time whistle on Wednesday, Flick explained:
“I saw positive things from my team. I’m happy with Álvaro, who made his debut, and Xavi Espart too.”
