Hansi Flick meets with Pep Guardiola amid push for Barcelona job

A fresh insight into the ongoing efforts of Hansi Flick to establish himself as the leading candidate to take up the reins at La Liga giants Barcelona this summer has come to the fore online.

The info comes courtesy of Relevo, and points towards Flick as having last week gone out of his way, in an effort to gain a more in-depth understanding of what it truly means to be Barcelona boss.

The German, it is understood, travelled to Manchester, where he met up with ex-Blaugrana headmaster and current Man City mastermind Pep Guardiola.

After taking in City’s Champions League downing of Copenhagen on Wednesday, Flick made his way to the Sky Blues’ training base a day later, where he enjoyed a lengthy discussion with the aforementioned Guardiola.

The subject of the bench at Barcelona took its place front and centre, with Flick having then organised a sit-down with Domènec Torrent, too.

Torrent, for his part, previously acted as Guardiola’s right-hand man at all of Barca, Bayern Munich, and Man City.

Flick, as a result, moved to pick the brains of the Spaniard, during a conversation stemming five hours at the Fazenda restaurant in Manchester.

There, once more, the ex-German national team head coach positioned all things Barcelona at the front of the agenda, as Flick continues to do his utmost to beat out the competition to replace Xavi in Catalunya’s capital in the summer.
