La Liga high-flyers Girona have made first contacts over the potential summer signing of a member of the midfield ranks at Liverpool.
That’s according to Relevo, who point towards Thiago Alcântara as being the player in question.
Thiago, for his part, is expected to bring a close to his four-year stint on the aforementioned Liverpool’s books this coming summer.
As much comes with his contract terms at Anfield due to expire, and the Reds brass having no intention of offering a renewal to a player who has spent almost the entirety of the campaign on the sidelines through injury.
So, where to next for Thiago?
As per Relevo, Girona have made contact with the entourage of the former Bayern Munich man, to gauge his interest in a return to his home country.
And the response proved a positive one.
Thiago of course boasts ample experience of life in Catalunya, owing to his stint on the books of Barcelona.
And the 33-year-old is understood to be very much open to the prospect of moving back to the city, to line out for Míchel’s Girona.
It is added that Thiago is not a ‘priority’ target as things stand, but his experience at the top level of the game could prove invaluable as the Blanquivermells prepare for a first-ever season in the Champions League.
