Girona & Juventus set sights on Barcelona sensation

Two high-profile clubs have set their sights on the signature of an up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at Barcelona.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Monday provided the latest on the future of Barca prodigy Mikayil Faye.

Stopper Faye, for his part, has seen his name take its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya once more over the course of the last 24 hours.

This comes with the Senegalese, fresh off netting on his debut on the international stage, and being afforded a place in Xavi’s matchday squad to face Las Palmas, having followed up by bagging the winner for Barcelona Atlètic.

Just minutes from full-time, with Rafa Márquez’s troops locked at two goals apiece with Osasuna B, Faye stepped up to lash a stunning free-kick home, in the process securing all three points for his side:

As much only saw the star of the 19-year-old continue to ascend, with Faye quickly making a name for himself as the next breakthrough sensation at Barcelona.

With such stellar exploits, though, comes inevitable outside interest.

Owing to the emergence of Pau Cubarsí onto the senior stage in Catalunya’s capital, Faye’s path to his own regular first-team minutes for Barca looks a murky one at present.

In turn, it has been suggested that, in the face of the right kind of offer, the Blaugrana could sanction his sale this summer, to alleviate their ongoing financial woes.

And Faye, for his part, will not be at all short on suitors.

As per Mundo Deportivo, after expressing a keen interest in his services during the January transfer window, Barca’s La Liga rivals Girona are ready to return to the table for the Senegalese this summer.

And joining the Blanquivermells in preparing an imminent move for Faye are one of the heavyweights of Italian football, in the form of Juventus.
