Girona boss Míchel reveals which Barcelona player he would sign

Girona head coach Míchel today revealed the identity of the member of Barcelona’s squad he would add to his own, if afforded the opportunity.

As much came during a lengthy interview with Cadena SER (cited by Mundo Deportivo), which saw the Spanish tactician drawn on a whole host of interesting topics.

Amid his side’s ongoing battle for Champions League football, Míchel first moved to reiterate that he has no intention of jumping ship any time soon, to take up the reins at one of Spanish football’s more traditional big-name clubs:

“My number one goal is to continue in Girona.”

He went on to add, though:

“I hope I can be among the candidates to coach two of the best teams in the world, that would say a lot about my work and would also be good for the club.”

Turning attentions towards the squad at the disposal of departing Barcelona counterpart Xavi Hernández, Míchel was then asked, if given the choice, which Blaugrana star he would snatch up to add to his own ranks.

And Girona’s headmaster did not hesitate in naming Oriol Romeu, who of course called time on his Blanquivermells stint just last summer, to link up with Barca:

“If I took one, it would be Oriol Romeu because I know that he is a good person and he is a top player.”

Míchel was also full of praise for another member of Xavi’s squad, namely Marc-André ter Stegen, and went on to reveal his admiration for all of Virgil van Dijk, Kevin De Bruyne and Kylian Mbappé, too:

“The best goalkeeper in the world, according to my idea of the game, would be Ter Stegen. In defence I would stay with Van Dijk, with De Bruyne in the midfield and Mbappé in attack, because I think he is the player who, individually, can solve the most situations with skill and decide a game.”
