Why Sergio Ramos was absent from Sevilla training on Thursday

An insight into the reasoning behind the absence of veteran defender Sergio Ramos from the latest training session held by La Liga outfit Sevilla on Thursday has been forthcoming online.

The info comes courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, and will no doubt come as a source of relief for all those fearful of Ramos having picked up a potential injury.

Instead, the former Real Madrid standout was simply put through an individualised session, to lower his workload.

Now 37, Ramos’ fitness must be managed carefully, so as to assure that he does not suffer from muscular overload in unnecessary fashion.

In turn, as per MD, the Spaniard ‘did specific work in the gym according to a special program to distribute the loads individually under the supervision of the coaching staff’.

Ramos is therefore expected to be fit and ready to feature from the off when Sevilla return to action in four days’ time.

Quique’s troops are primed to close out the latest round of La Liga fixtures, when they make the trip to the Power Horse Stadium to take on bottom of the table Almería on Monday night.
