Getafe striker Borja Mayoral speaks out on Arsenal links

Getafe star Borja Mayoral has this afternoon provided his take on the recent media speculation linking him with a move to Premier League giants Arsenal.

The name of frontman Mayoral has of course emerged as a central one in the headlines across Europe over the course of the last week.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the 26-year-old – in the midst of a fine season in Spain – had made his way onto the radar of the aforementioned Arsenal.

Mayoral, for his part, has racked up a stellar tally of 14 goals in 22 appearances across the campaign to date.

In turn, some outlets went as far as to suggest that the Arsenal brass had in fact placed an opening offer on the table of their counterparts at Getafe.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the recent speculation surrounding his name was put to none other than Mayoral himself.

The Spaniard, though, was keen to play down any such chatter, adamant that he remains fully focused on the job at hand at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez.

“It’s news that has surprised me too,” Mayoral told Mediaset, as cited by Estadio Deportivo. “I haven’t spoken to the club or my agent. I’m very focused on Getafe, on a day-to-day basis.”
