Gerard Piqué available for next two Barcelona matches

Gerard Piqué has a good chance of starting Saturday’s La Liga fixture against Almería at Camp Nou in what will be his last game in front of the Barcelona fans after announcing his retirement on Thursday, report Mundo Deportivo.

Barça boss Xavi did not want to confirm if he was going to be in the starting eleven during Friday’s press conference. “We’ll see tomorrow,” the Barça coach said when asked about it.

Eric García and Andreas Christensen have been cleared to play and are part of the squad. Eric missed today’s session after picking up an injury at Mestalla and the Dane has not played for almost a month.

Xavi also confirmed that he has Piqué available “in principle until the 8th, for the match against Osasuna”.

Last match at Camp Nou for Piqué

Xavi added: “It’s an extra motivation, it’s his farewell and we want him to leave with three points and a good feeling and I encourage the fans to applaud him, give him a standing ovation and chant his name. Let it be a great day for the club and above all for Piqué.”
